If you have a Google account, you can use it to search for family-related information. But if you’re a family member of someone with a Google account, there’s a good chance that they’ve linked their account to theirs. And if they have, it’s likely that you’ll find some of their search results in your results. There are a few ways to block this linkage:

  1. Log out of your Google account and then log back in. This will stop the link from working.
  2. Change your settings on your Google account so that links from your accounts are not allowed. This can be done by going to “Settings” on the main web page and selecting “Google Accounts.” Then select “Linked Accounts.” If you don’t have this setting enabled, you’ll need to set it up before trying to block the linkages.
  3. Use one of the tools available online to remove links from your accounts: Link Checker or Link Remover (both free).
