Instagram is a great way to keep in touch with friends and family. But if you’re like most people, you use it to send direct messages (DMs). If you don’t have an Instagram account, there’s no harm in creating one. But before you start, be sure to understand how DMs work. First, let’s take a look at how Instagram works: when someone posts a picture on Instagram, the app sends a DM to all of their followers. The DM is just a message that says “Hey! I saw your post and wanted to let you know.” The person who posted the picture can choose to respond or not. If they respond, they get credit for the post and their followers can see the message. If they don’t respond, their followers can still see the message but no credit is given. If you want to send a DM on Instagram, there are two ways: by using the “send as” button or by using the “post as” button on your profile page. The “send as” button lets you type in a message and then share it with all of your followers at once. The “post as” button lets you post a DM directly to your own account without having to share it with all of your followers first. When using the “send as” button, be sure to follow these steps:
- Type in a short message that’s easy for people to read 2) Share the picture or video that inspired your message 3) Add an emoji (📧 for yes/no) so people can easily understand what you’re saying
