If you’re like most people, you probably use your iPhone to access the internet, make calls, and do other basic tasks. But if you have an iPhone with a face ID or passcode, there are some things you can’t do without them. For example, if you want to unlock your phone for a quick trip to the store, you need to use your face ID to get into your account. Or if you want to watch a movie on your phone while in public, you need to use your passcode. But there are also some things that just require a touch or two of your fingers - like opening up an app from the App Store or opening up a document from iCloud - and those tasks usually don’t require a face ID or passcode. So how do you unlock an iPhone without one? Here’s how:
- Open up Settings and find the lock button on the top left side of the screen. This is usually called " Face ID." If it’s not there, tap on it and then select “Notifications.” This will show all of the notifications that are related to unlocking your phone - including messages from Apple about new features for iOS 11 (which is why this guide is specifically about unlocking iPhones with Face ID).
- Scroll down until you find “Passcode Lock” and turn it off. This will prevent anyone else from trying to unlock your phone without having their own Passcode.
- Open up iTunes and go into Preferences. Under “Privacy,” select “Notifications.” Now all of the notifications that relate to unlocking will be hidden again - but they’ll still be there if you ever want to turn them back on again.
