It happened around 10:45 pm in the area of East Allegheny and Kensington avenues. Police say the gunmen got out of a black vehicle parked in the middle of the lot and fired about 40 shots. Nine victims were taken to a local hospital. Police say two victims are listed as critical and seven others are listed as stable. The victims have not been identified, but police say they were all male and female adults. “We’ve got some brats in this city who don’t care. They don’t care how many police officers are out here. And some of them don’t care how many people are out here. We continue to do what we need to do to bring them into custody the individuals,” said First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford at the Philadelphia Police Department. It is not yet clear what sparked the shooting. “At this time, it appears that these individuals may have spotted someone they wanted to shoot at, got out of the vehicle and started shooting at the group of individuals that were there. We don’t have much more than that in terms of motivation,” Stanford said. Police are still looking for the perpetrators. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS. Sources initially told Action News that 12 people were injured in the shooting. Copyright © 2022 WPVI-TV. All rights reserved.
