Const. Ricardo Gomez has been charged with four counts of breach of trust, two counts of unauthorized computer use and one count of mischief. He was also charged under the Law on Police Services with two counts of defamatory conduct, three counts of breach of trust and two counts of disobedience. These additional charges were adjourned without a recurrence date until the criminal case was heard. It is alleged that between November 5, 2020 and January 28, 2021, Gomez provided confidential information, accessing police computer databases several times. Following an investigation into professional standards, Gomez was suspended on December 2, 2021, while the investigation continued and his criminal charges were announced on June 8. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 6. Gomez, who was placed in the 12th Division, is a 20-year-old police veteran and remains on pay suspension under the Police Services Act.
