Dorset police officers received reports of an attempted kidnapping of a child on Evering Avenue around 15:00 yesterday, Friday 10 June. A woman was walking with her four-month-old baby in a stroller when she was approached by two men in a white van. The men got out of the vehicle, grabbed the stroller and tried to pull the baby out of it, a Dorset police spokesman said. One of the men is described as white, six feet two inches tall, 30 years old and of medium build with short dark brown hair. He was wearing a black vest, black pants and black shoes and had a tattoo on his right arm. The second man is described as white, six feet two inches tall and of medium build with short straws. He was also wearing black clothes as well as a thin silver chain around his neck. Read more: A man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a bus collision in Poole Detective Inspector Katie Starkie of Bournemouth CID said: “This was understandably a very painful incident for the mother involved and we have started a full investigation. “Right now the motive for these men’s actions remains unclear and we are doing everything we can to identify them. “Our investigations include door-to-door, review of CCTV footage in the area and forensic work. “I will urge all residents with closed-circuit home systems or bell cameras, as well as any dashboard camera drivers in the area, to check their material for anything that may help our investigation. “I think reports like this are likely to cause concern in the local community. “There will be an increased police presence in the area as we continue to investigate this incident and police officers can be approached by anyone with information or concerns.” Anyone with information is kindly requested to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact, email [email protected] or call 101, indicating incident number 55220092425.
