The incident happened at a house on Bednal Avenue in Miles Platting around 9:30 pm last night (Thursday). The boy’s mother was also stabbed, police said.
Both victims were taken to hospital with stab wounds. The boy died tragically.

His mother – who is 40 years old – is in stable condition. Supported by specialist officers.
Police said investigations showed the perpetrator was “known to the victims” and that the incident was “domestic”. He is described as an Asian who wore dark clothes at the time.

They are around 40 years old and of medium size and medium height. He was last seen walking on Sawley Road shortly after the attack.
Anyone who finds him is asked not to approach him and call 999. No arrests have been made.

A large police cordon remains at the scene this morning. Officers from the Major Incidents Team are conducting investigations.
