The sole suspect in Thursday’s CBS shootings made his first appearance in provincial court this morning. Matthew Fowler, 31, was quiet and composed as he was led from the holding cells to the Atlantic Place courtroom. The initial appearance lasted only a few minutes, for the charges to be formally read, and he returned to jail pending another appearance this afternoon. Fowler faces at least 15 charges, including weapons offenses and aggravated assault against a man, according to RNC Constable James Cadigan. Other charges include assault with a weapon, reckless use of a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a motor vehicle, fleeing from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. More charges are expected this afternoon involving a second shooting victim. Both reportedly suffered non-life threatening injuries.
