Cal struck first with a rushing touchdown drive on its first possession, but USC scored the game’s next 27 points and appeared to have taken a commanding lead before the Bears clawed their way back into it. Cal tied it within a touchdown with nine minutes remaining after a successful onside kick and the next score. The Trojans gave up 406 yards passing to Cal quarterback Jack Plummer but responded with another strong performance from Caleb Williams. The Oklahoma transfer threw for 360 yards and four touchdowns. His performance was especially impressive after coming with key receivers Mario Williams and Jordan Addison out with injury. The Trojans weren’t the only top-10 team forced to sweat in a close home win over an unranked foe in Week 10. No. 7 TCU trailed Texas Tech entering the fourth quarter before finishing strong for a 34- 24 to remain unbeaten. Running back Kendre Miller had another big performance for the Horned Frogs with 158 yards rushing and a touchdown on 21 carries. With Saturday’s win and losses to No. 1 Tennessee and No. 4 Clemson, TCU is one of just four remaining undefeated teams.
