After the Okanagan Connector was closed for much of Friday afternoon due to heavy snow, a crash closed the highway’s westbound lanes Saturday morning. DriveBC has received reports of the crash near Brenda Mine Road. Emergency crews are heading to the area to assess the scene. The crash comes after more than 18 inches of snow fell on the highway on Friday, during the first winter blast of the season. The freeway was completely closed at around 2pm on Friday due to the treacherous conditions, but reopened around 8.30pm Webcam footage of the Okanagan Connector Saturday morning shows the highway still covered in snow. Motorists on the Coquihalla Freeway have also been warned of extremely slippery conditions coming to Merritt, with northbound traffic moving at a snail’s pace for the 10km stretch south of Merritt.
