Ottawa police say they were called “to the scene of an active investigation” in the 400 block of Donald Street at 9:45 a.m. Monday. “There is a heavy police presence in this area,” they said on Twitter. “Everyone is asked to avoid the area.” There was a large police presence outside the Technical High School of Ottawa. Officers entered the school and arrested four people, police said. The school is in a “safe and secure operation,” police said, and there is no danger to the public. Police reduced their presence at Ottawa Technical High School and the lockdown was lifted. No weapon was found, police said. Ottawa police say they were called “to the scene of an active investigation” in the 400 block of Donald Street at 9:45 a.m. Monday. A spokesperson for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board said the lockdown was put in place to support a police investigation into reports that a student might be in possession of a gun. “Students and staff were safely secured in their classrooms and the lockdown was lifted after approximately one hour,” spokeswoman Darcy Noll said in a statement. “No students or staff were injured.” It is unclear if those arrested were students.
