Ottawa police say they were called “to the scene of an active investigation” in the 400 block of Donald Street at 9:45 a.m. Monday. “There is a heavy police presence in this area,” they said on Twitter. “Everyone is asked to avoid the area.” There was a large police presence outside the Technical High School of Ottawa. Officers entered the school and arrested four people, police said. The school is in a “safe and secure operation,” police said, and there is no danger to the public. A spokesperson for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board said the lockdown was put in place to support a police investigation into reports that a student might be in possession of a gun. “Students and staff were safely secured in their classrooms and the lockdown was lifted after approximately one hour,” spokeswoman Darcy Noll said in a statement. “No students or staff were injured.” It is unclear if those arrested were students.
