Donald Trump’s bisexual ex-girlfriend Cara Young has broken her silence about an incident where she said she got her intelligence from her white father. Speaking to Inside Edition on Tuesday in her first interview about Mr. Trump since 2017, Ms. Young, 47, confirmed the truth of an earlier report about the alleged meeting. New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman previously revealed in her book Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America, released last month, that the former president had made a joke about the white father and Mrs. Young’s black mother. Trump said [Ms Young] that she had gotten her beauty from her mother and her intelligence ‘from her daddy, the white side,’” Ms. Haberman wrote. On Tuesday, Ms Young spoke out about the incident, saying she thought the former president was making “a joke” but was quick to point out it was inappropriate. “Does it sound – when someone says something funny – is he joking? I don’t know,” he said. “It wasn’t a fight or anything like that, it was just ‘No.’ Don’t say that, it’s not funny.’ “He said: ‘I was just joking, I was just joking. No, I don’t believe that.” Ms Young, a former supermodel, dated Mr Trump for two and a half years from 1997 following his divorce from his second wife Marla Maples. The 47-year-old, who admitted during the interview with Deborah Norville that she was a friend of the reporter, explained that she felt motivated to break her five-year silence about their relationship after becoming “frustrated” by the constant barrage of questions. . “When something is said for years and years and years and you never say anything back, it became so frustrating as if I was talking all the time,” Ms Young said. Specifically, he was asked about his statement about the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, where he failed to condemn the white supremacists who had gathered in a violent confrontation in the Virginia city and instead said there were “very good people in both sides”. Ms. Yang remained coy on the matter, simply saying, “You don’t need to ask me how someone is. You can tell what they’re like by what they say and the comments they make.” Mr. Trump’s comments on race were also reported elsewhere in Ms. Haberman’s book, in full. According to the veteran White House reporter, one of the former president’s first White House dinners turned into an awkward affair when he turned on a group of his own guests — described in the book as racially and ethnically diverse — and directed them to serve dinner. According to Ms. Haberman’s statements, Trump’s chief of staff then “rushed to rectify” the situation and informed the president of who had reached out. There was no indication that Mr Trump apologized to staff for the error. According to Ms Yang, it has been six years since she last spoke to her ex-boyfriend. He said the last time they spoke was the night he won the 2016 presidential election over Democrat Hillary Clinton. “I called to congratulate him on winning the presidency, as one would,” he said. She added that she believes the former president will run for a second term in 2024, but – for her part – she doesn’t think he should. At the end of the interview, she noted that — regardless of whether he runs in 2024 or not — Tuesday’s interview will be the last time she speaks publicly about her ex-partner. Mr. Trump has yet to confirm a 2024 run, but he is unofficially giving a wink and a nod that it is his intention. Aides to the one-term president have said in recent days that they are quietly preparing for a 2024 presidential campaign that could potentially begin after November’s midterm elections. “It looks like 95 percent he’s going to run,” said Reince Priebus, Trump’s former White House chief of staff. “The real question,” he added, “is will other major challengers run? If President Trump is the nominee, it will be very difficult for any Republican to defeat him.”
