A major police operation is underway in Niddrie after a police car was hit with a bottle containing a flammable liquid and a shop was burgled. Police are now asking citizens to avoid the area and urged residents to stay indoors for now. Officers in the Capital working as part of Operation Crackle, launched to tackle anti-social and criminal activity in and around Bonfire Night, and Operation Moonbeam, which tackles high levels of public disorder and violence, are on the scene alongside special resources. He added: “A police vehicle was also hit with a bottle containing a flammable substance, however, there was no damage and no injuries were reported. There will be a strong police presence to deal with ongoing issues and the safety of the public.”
