In a Twitter post, a spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service (DSFRS) confirmed that the roundabout remains closed as, despite best efforts, its load continues to ignite and it is not safe to reopen the road. In a statement on Twitter, a DSFRS spokesman wrote: “Unfortunately the Ide roundabout near Exeter will be closed for the foreseeable future due to a truck fire. “Find alternative routes for your trip.” A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire Department said: “We are currently experiencing a large vehicle fire right next to the Alphington Roundabout.
