(Pat Harrigan Campaign) Harrigan’s campaign manager told The Carolina Journal that a suspect fired shots at his parents’ home in Hickory. He said Harrigan’s children were home at the time and the shot came just feet from where they were sleeping. Harrigan’s campaign told Fox News Digital his children often spend the night at home, but were not there at the time of the shooting. As of Thursday, no arrests have been made in the incident. Harrigan’s campaign has not confirmed that the FBI is involved in the investigation. LOUISIANA’S UNIQUE SENATE RACE FEATURES A 13-STRONG CANDIDATE FIELD Harrigan is running against Democratic Sen. Jeff Jackson in North Carolina’s 14th congressional district. In a statement Thursday, Harrigan said his opponent’s policies have led to “increased inflation, economic destruction and rampant crime—including political violence. “My mission is a better economy, less inflation and safe roads. A bullet and death threats are not enough to sway this Green Beret from that mission.” Harrigan’s campaign confirmed to Fox News Digital that the race had become so heated that he began wearing a bulletproof vest to campaign events and had received threats on his life. The shootings come amid heightened concerns about the safety of politicians. The Department of Homeland Security and other law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, issued a bulletin Friday warning that political candidates, election officials and the public face an increased risk of violence.
