Voting record Mostly Labor. after the Iraq war, Lib Dem; then back to the Labor under Corbin. Now Jodi is thinking of George Galloway’s British Labor Party. He voted to leave the EU referendum, but he is in favor of immigration Amuse bouche Jody is related to David Attenborough. He has to explore his family tree to find out exactly how, but his grandmother’s last name was Attenborough

For beginners
Jodi It looked okay. Smart chapter. I was expecting to get a “soy boy”. You know, someone who drinks a lot of soy milk, vegan, Ukrainian t-shirt, European Union hat, one of them. Michael I’m not sure what he told you, but I fell for the hammer, so the recall may be a little slow. We did very well, I think. The food was wonderful.
The big calf
Jody We disagreed about positive discrimination. Positive discrimination is still discrimination. Michael We agreed on the lack of justice, the lack of a level playing field. But I think that, whether it is race, gender, sexual orientation or any other characteristic you choose to name, positive discrimination in dealing with this imbalance is not only justified but also desirable. Jody I have come to the conclusion that if it is done for a lesson, giving a foot to poor people, then I am a professional. But when it comes to racial or sexual or any of these other kinds of arbitrary division, it gets a little skewed. If you take black children and white children downtown, they will both have the same disadvantage – it is not the color of their skin, it is the fact that they are both poor. Michael said he was color-blind, that he did not care if anyone was a man or a woman – he would treat them all equally and if everyone did that it would be okay. I have gone through a process, from believing almost the same thing to thinking that, because we are in such a difficult position, if you are any kind of minority, you must actively do something good to restore that balance. Whether it’s something like, in an interview process, removing someone’s name or educational background to extract as many indicators of unconscious bias as possible, then it’s worth doing.
Dish sharing
Jody I am in favor of free movement. I like the idea of genetic mixing, a little more of a healthy gene pool. Michalis I do not believe in the concept of the state, I do not believe in borders. I think these things are completely artificial.
For later
Jodi There were about 400,000 civilian deaths in the “war on terror” – Afghanistan, Iraq and other wars. Ukraine had about 4,000 civilian casualties. So what the West has done is far worse than what Putin is doing right now – but while Putin is a bastard, worse than Hitler, Tony Blair is roaming the Earth. And the refugee, everyone is like: send these Syrians to Rwanda, but yes, we will bring a Ukrainian home. Hypocrisy is dripping. Mikhail I thought he might be pro-Russian, but his sense was not that we should not be unhappy with Russia’s actions, more that it was hypocritical to make a fuss about Ukraine when there is so little mention of Yemen, for example. Many of the points we had discrepancies were around this real skepticism he has about what he reads in the media. I do not think that Ukraine has been mentioned too much, more that other things are underlined.
Take it away
Jodi It’s weird when you meet a stranger, sitting down, both of you struggling – trying to find common ground. Online, you would be in the other’s throat. Michael It was interesting to see how different our worldviews were, but that eventually led us to a series of similar conclusions. It made me think about the importance of understanding people’s motivations to say and do things, rather than reacting superficially to what they say and do.
