Waters’ comments, made during his Fox News show, came in response to Newsom’s accusations made against him in an interview with CBS News that aired Saturday.
The Fox News host turned the tables, accusing Newsom of doing more to “aid and abet” the man suspected of brutally attacking Paul Pelosi “than anyone else.”
“California Governor Gavin Newsom is running for president. So when a mentally ill homeless drug addict who has committed crime after crime in his home state and has never been deported attacks Paul Pelosi with a hammer, Gavin Newsom has anyone to blame but himself,” Watters said.
“Gavin Newsom thinks that if you make fun of a Democrat, it puts him on a hit list,” Waters continued, saying his show had “quite a bit of coverage” of Paul Pelosi’s May drunken driving accident and noting that DePape he was reportedly looking for Nancy Pelosi, not Paul. during the home invasion.

“If anything, Gavin Newsom has done more than anyone to aid and abet this attack on Paul Pelosi,” Waters argued, citing 42-year-old suspect David DePap’s criminal history and alleged illegal immigration.
In Saturday’s interview, Newsom not only blamed Watters, but also called out the Fox News network.
“I have seen the dehumanization of Nancy Pelosi,” Newsom had said. “I don’t think anyone has been dehumanized like her all the time.”
The liberal Golden State governor accused Waters of “bullying” Paul Pelosi for months, which the governor claims may have contributed to the break-in at Pelosi’s San Francisco home.
“Now I watched this guy, Jesse Watters or something like that on Fox News. What he’s been saying about Paul Pelosi for the last five, six months, consistently mocking him. Don’t tell me that doesn’t help and encourage all of this. Of course it is,” Newsom said.
“They are sowing the seeds, creating a culture and a climate like this,” the California governor added. “I mean, look online. Look at the sewage that exists on the internet that is amplifying these networks and social media to dehumanize people like Nancy Pelosi and other political leaders.”

DePape was indicted on federal charges Monday in the Friday morning attack on Paul Pelosi that left him with a fractured skull.
He allegedly planned to kneel the speaker of the House and hold her hostage, according to an affidavit, but she was not home at the time of the attack.
DePape has been linked by name to conspiracy blogs, and relatives and acquaintances said he often shared conspiracies on Facebook and seemed “out of touch with reality.”
Newsom also hinted during his interview with CBS that he is receiving threats that have become more serious.

“I know what’s been in my inbox for the last three years,” he said. “Trust me, you don’t, because I don’t share it. I don’t even share it with my wife. I have four children. So I know a little about it. I mean, it wasn’t just a recall against me. It was surround sound in every way, shape or form.”
“Look, there are always people on the edge and you roll your eyes,” he added. “This is—something is different here. There, you know, the mind stretches. People feel free to push again.”
President Biden on Friday denounced the attack on Paul Pelosi as “political violence” and linked it to the Capitol Hill riot during remarks at a Pennsylvania Democratic Party fundraiser.
“There’s no place in America — there’s too much violence, political violence, too much hate, too much vitriol, and what makes us believe that one party can talk about a stolen election, that COVID is a hoax — it’s all a bunch of lies — and it doesn’t affect people who might not be so well balanced,” Biden said.
