A woman in Missouri earned $ 5.2 million in a settlement with Geico after contracting a sexually transmitted disease. The woman said she contracted the human papillomavirus (HPV) while having sex inside a Geico-insured vehicle and the company quickly found a request for payment from the anonymous woman. She argued that because her partner did not take proper precautions and infected her in the insured car, the HPV infection should be covered by the contract. GEICO had no right to resolve these issues,” the court wrote. On the contrary, because they chose to refuse coverage, their legal redress was jeopardized.
