Overall, Sony’s Santa Monica Studio has further built on its technically impressive 2018 predecessor, implementing numerous enhancements and improvements. For example, the character models in God of War Ragnarök are even more detailed than before, and the same can be said for the game’s lighting effects and reflections. Once again, the PS exclusive title also relies on a completely seamless cinematic presentation with no annoying loading screens, and the level design once again highlights the incredible attention to detail. God of War Ragnarök additionally offers a total of six graphics modes on the Sony PS5, which were recently shown off in a neat little overview from the developer. For owners of a modern 4K TV with HDMI 2.1 inputs and VRR support, Digital Foundry recommends using the High Frame Rate mode, which displays God of War Ragnarök at 1440p resolution and an ultra-smooth 80 to 90 fps during battle. The regular 60fps graphics mode on the PS5 also seems to be an adequate choice, offering a decent balance between visual fidelity and performance.
