Google announced that it was spinning off Street View into its own app in 2015. Available for both Android and iOS, it lets you upload your own spherical photos from your phone or spherical cameras. Last year, the company also introduced Photo Paths, which lets you contribute a series of 2D photos for streets and locations that haven’t been documented by a Street View car (or camel or sheep) before. Street View will continue to be a key feature of Google Maps, so you can virtually explore all the places the tech giant has documented with its cameras. You can also continue to add Photo Sphere to Maps and publish 360 video using Street View Studio. As 9to5Google notes, however, there will no longer be a way to add Photo Routes after Google completely shuts down its dedicated Street View app. However, images previously submitted to Photo Path will continue to be visible on Google Maps.
