According to Dan McTeague, president of the Canadians for Affordable Energy, the price of gas is expected to increase by two cents on Friday, reaching 212.9 cents per liter.
On Saturday, another three minutes will be added to the price of a liter of gasoline, which will put it at 215.9 minutes.
It will break the current record of 214.9 cents per liter achieved just last weekend.
McTeague previously told CP24 that pump prices could reach 225 cents a liter sometime this summer.
As the travel season approaches, many fear that demand this summer will further limit the already limited global supply that has been exacerbated by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The pain in the pumps is also felt south of the border and across the lake. In the US, the average price of gasoline is close to $ 5 a gallon, while in the United Kingdom, gas prices reached a record 182.3 pence per liter.
