But what you may not have realized is that many of the games presented during SGF come from Canada – especially considering that the series’ producer Geoff Keighley is from Markham, Ontario. With that in mind, we put together all the Canadian games that were featured:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II *
There was a long campaign demonstration for this year’s Call of Duty, with shots fired on an oil rig. While the game was developed primarily by California-based Infinity Ward, Quebec-based Beenox operates the computer port, as has been the case with previous Call of Duty titles. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will be released on October 28, 2022 on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S.

Nightingale
Edmonton-based Inflexion Games, a new studio led by former BioWare (Mass Effect) general manager Aaron Flynn, has taken a fresh look at its new IP, Nightingale. It is a common world title of survival with a Victorian fantasy setting. Nightingale is set to be released for PC in late 2022.
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge
Old-school beat’em up fans won the Summer Game Fest from the Montreal-based Tribute with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Shredder’s Revenge. The trailer confirmed a six-player collaboration mode, as well as a release date. TMNT Shredder’s Revenge will be released on June 16 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One (and Xbox Game Pass), Nintendo Switch and PC.
Warframe: Duviri Paradox
London, Ontario’s Digital Extremes has unveiled the expansion of its hugely popular action-RPG-shooter game, Warframe. The teaser was short, however, with Digital Extremes promising a broader look at Duviri Paradox’s “open world that fixes reality” at the Tennocon Warframe conference on July 16. However, there was also a brief fun exchange between Megan Everett, the game’s responsible community, and Keighley. “My Canadian colleague!” Everett said, to which Kigley replied: “I know, we always have these Canadian teams on the show – I do not know how this is done!” Hon. reference: The aforementioned remake of The Last of Us is directed by Matthew Gallant of Quebec himself, a veteran Naughty Dog developer based in California. These were all Canadian games presented at the Summer Game Fest. However, the show had many more titles – the full list can be found here. - It is important to note that Activision Blizzard, the parent company of Beenox and the publisher of the Call of Duty series, is currently in a series of controversies. In particular, the company has been hit by multiple lawsuits over an allegedly toxic work culture in which many employees, especially women, have been harassed and abused. The company’s CEO Bobby Kotick has also been accused of working to cover up these incidents, including, in one case, threatening to kill an assistant. While Activision Blizzard has said it is working to improve its work culture, it remains to be seen what substantial changes will be made, especially in the midst of Microsoft’s ongoing acquisition of the company.
