Justice Secretary John Hogan is responding to concerns that the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection has been instructed to review the formalities in a report prepared by the Citizen’s representative on allegations of intimidation and harassment in Elections NL. Hogan says that was not the case. He says the letter sent for help and claims that “there was no indication of that”. Hogan cites legislation that allows the commissioner to provide reasonable assistance. However, Hogan says that due to a conflict of interest, no help can be provided.
