A spokesman for the department confirmed that police were investigating shootings at a shopping mall on North New Hope Road in Gastonia after 12 noon on Friday. Gaston emergency medical services told Channel 9 that three people had been shot and taken to hospital. The GPD said all three are expected to recover from their injuries. In a briefing just before 1:45 p.m., Gastonia Police Chief Travis Brittan said they were receiving mixed information as to whether the shooting took place inside the grocery store or outside the mall.
