The new iOS 16 update brings iPhone users a whole new user experience on the device, which means users can do more with and on their smartphone. But what about the phone’s battery life? After the update, several Apple users complained that they saw a sudden drop in their iPhone’s battery performance. Well, the ‘haptic keyboard’ feature in iOS 16 could be the reason behind it. The battery drain problem on iPhones could be solved … to a point. According to support documents recently shared by Apple, the tech giant is warning users about the impact of the ‘haptic keyboard’ feature on the iPhone’s battery life. “Enabling haptic keyboards can affect your iPhone’s battery life,” Apple said. « Back to recommendation stories The haptic keyboard feature makes a sound or vibrates when you type on your iPhone’s keyboard. The Cupertino-based tech giant didn’t explain exactly how the feature affects the iPhone’s battery or to what extent, but it did share steps to enable or disable haptic keyboards on the device. The feature consumes battery every time a user touches the iPhone screen and uses prompts. Even in low power mode, the feature is not turned off, which means it still consumes battery despite the iPhone running in battery saver mode. Even the new screen lock feature in iOS 16 can affect the phone’s battery life. It requires how you’ve set up your widget or wallpaper and the selection of apps that appear on it. For example, the Weather app tracks your current location periodically, and if it appears on the widget or lock screen, then the feature will consume more of your battery and your iPhone may run out of battery sooner.
