However, with his every move closely watched, there is one thing about the new King that seems to be confusing people online. Images of King Charles’ red and swollen “sausage” fingers (as he even called them during a 2012 visit to Australia) have made the rounds and many have asked if it’s cause for concern. Now, a doctor on TikTok has shared his reasoning for why the new ruler’s hands look like this. According to Dr. David Reiner on TikTok, there is probably a biological reason for the king’s toe swelling. Watch: The Royal Mint begins production of the first coins featuring the King He explains: “Throughout your body you have blood vessels that supply oxygen to your cells. “These blood vessels are full of red blood cells and fluid – now there are pressures inside the blood vessels that cause fluid to come out of them.” Dr. Reiner goes on to say that “tumor forces” pull this fluid back into the blood vessels—in most people, if there is a build-up of fluid outside the vessel, it usually returns to the heart through the lymphatic system. So because King Charles has huge swollen fingers, Dr. Reiner says the new monarch’s lymphatic system may not be working properly and fluid is sticking out of the blood vessels causing the excessive swelling in his fingers.
