Kingston Police were called to the branch, near the intersection of Bath Road and Collins Bay Road in Collins Bay, at approximately 11:55 p.m., where Patrick Millar, 69, of Amherstview was found dead. Police sent out a press release Saturday morning saying the incident was being treated as a homicide. Anthony (Tony) Whitlock, 58, was charged with second-degree murder. The claim has not been proven in court. Whitlock appeared before Magistrate Jack Chiang in Kingston District Court by telephone from the Central East Correctional Center in Lindsay. Whitlock is represented by Kingston-based attorney Mary Jane Kingston. The matter was tabled until Monday, November 7, when it will be transferred to the Supreme Court.

Const. Anthony Colangeli of the Kingston Police said Monday that the incident was initially reported to the Ontario Provincial Police, but once it was determined to have happened in Kingston, local authorities took over. “The scene is still being processed and investigators are in the process of interviewing witnesses,” Colangeli said. Reg McDonald, a member of the legion who was DJing at a Halloween party on Friday night, said those in attendance were unaware of the body until police arrived. “The police turned up before we knew anything was going on. We don’t know who called the police,” McDonald told the Whig-Standard. “I thought it was there because of a noise complaint or something, so it was a shock to us.” The researchers then interviewed all of the party attendees. By Saturday morning, the legion branch and Amherstview Golf Club were on lockdown. Police said the golf course was connected to the investigation.
