How Leeds made a stunning comeback

Leeds got off to a flying start and took the lead through Rodrigo’s third-minute penalty. Marcos Senesi sent Summerville crashing into the penalty area inside the first 60 seconds and Rodrigo converted his seventh league goal of the season from the spot. Bournemouth equalized four minutes later on their first attack. Robin Koch could only head Billings’ cross at the back post and an unmarked side-footed Tavernier volleyed into the bottom corner. Team news

Leeds boss Jesse Marsh fielded an unchanged starting line-up after last week’s stunning win at Liverpool, although striker Patrick Bamford – a second-half substitute at Anfield – was ruled out through injury. Interim Bournemouth boss Gary O’Neill made one change following last week’s home defeat to Tottenham, with Ryan Fredericks recalled at right-back in place of Jordan Zemura. Leeds goalkeeper Ilan Meslier turned Jefferson Lerma’s header over the crossbar as Bournemouth went on top and silenced Elland Road with a second goal in the 18th minute. Meslier blocked Tavernier’s effort, but the ball deflected off the Bournemouth winger and he laid it open for Billing, who smashed the visitors into a 2-1 lead from inside the area. Kieffer Moore spurned a chance to extend the Cherries’ lead when he calmly slotted past Meslier in front of goal, with Leeds at sea and back again after another quick counter-attack. Bournemouth caught Leeds in transition once again three minutes into the second half and doubled their lead. Tavernier had plenty of space on the left and Solanke turned in his low cross to put the visitors 3-1 up. Rodrigo flashed a chance high and wide as Leeds surged forward in search of an equaliser, before skipper Cooper raised the roof by turning home Greenwood’s corner in the 68th minute. Jack Stacey came a long way from putting Bournemouth back in front moments after replacing Ryan Fredericks as a typically frantic game at Elland Road hung in the balance. And it was Leeds who grabbed the win. Half-time substitute Gnonto drove into the heart of Bournemouth’s tired line and slipped in Summerville, who went on and buried his third goal of the season.
