The second day of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf kick-off ended with Charl Schwartzel shooting three -9, but the golf civil war continued after the words between the PGA Tour and the controversial split series. Bryson DeChambeau is now committed, with $ 25 million to be shared on Saturday and South African Schwartzel topping $ 4.75 million after leading the individual tournament and seeing the Stinger GC team top the group standings. After months of speculation, the opening tournament started yesterday at the Centurion Club in St Albans, but it was confirmed by the PGA Tour that the rebellious players involved in the incident have been suspended immediately. The amazing news further consolidated both sides in the battle that threatens to change the sport as we know it and was hailed by players like Rory McIlroy, who remained committed to the PGA. It came as Ian Poulter, one of 17 golfers fined by the PGA Tour, announced his intention to appeal against the suspension. “It does not make sense,” Pulter said. “I did not give up my membership because I do not feel I have done anything wrong. I have played all over the world for 25 years. “This is no different; it is a power struggle and it is just frustrating.” Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia are among the big names competing in the opening event. Charl Schwartzel takes over LIV Golf as Bryson DeChambeau embarks on guerrilla tour
Charl Schwartzel took an impressive lead in the final lap of the LIV Golf Invitational Series, but Bryson DeChambeau took the headlines after committing to the Revolutionary Golf Tour. The former US Open champion and eight-time winner of the PGA Tour became the last high-profile golfer to take part in the controversial tour backed by Saudi Arabia. But as LIV Golf continued to make more headlines off the field, South African Schwartzel took a three-point lead at -9 at the Centurion Club to position himself perfectly to win the $ 4 million jackpot. Compatriot Hennie Du Plessis is second and three shots back, with American Peter Uihlein third at -4. But Dustin Johnson, the big start of the week that entered the week, fell in the second round, finishing -1 and leaving himself with a mountain to climb to the third and final round on Saturday. Schwartzel is also poised to make the most of the team tournament with his South Africa-based team Stinger GC at -15 and seven shots away from the Crushers GC at -8. The Majesticks GC are third at -6 with an additional $ 5 million available to share between the top three teams. DeChambeau joins Johnson and Phil Mickelson as superstar names to jump in and join the Saudi-backed splinter series. Jack Rathborn June 10, 2022 8:13 PM 1654887132

Schwartzel, after maintaining his lead, advances to the final round. “It makes you focus, you have two sides, it makes you focus, you have both, so you try your best.” The South African will win a total of $ 4.75 million in individual and team events if both he and Stinger’s team hold on. The DJ lost a great opportunity, who could have reached -3 and in the final group tomorrow. He slips to the right though, staying five away from Schwartzel, another Masters champion, and three away from Du Plessis. Jack Rathborn June 10, 2022 6:05 PM 1654880006

Schwartzel and Du Plessis make comfortable birds, dropping to fifth 13th place. They move in front of the herd that is chasing. It could be a straight penalty between the South Africans in the third and final round. Jack Rathborn June 10, 2022 5:53 PM
