Police were called by paramedics who treated the 15-year-old boy for stab wounds at an address on Bednal Avenue, Miles Platting, on Thursday night. The boy was taken to hospital but unfortunately died a short time later. His mother, a woman in her 40s, was also treated at the scene for serious stab wounds and was taken to hospital where he remains in stable condition. A 44-year-old man from Manchester was arrested in Kent on Friday night on suspicion of murder. It is believed that he was known to the victims. Chief Inspector Detective Alicia Smith of the GMP Major Cases Team said: “Last night’s attack left the community upset and a family reconciled with what was a devastating event for everyone involved. “A teenager who had his whole life in front of him tragically lost his life and not only is his mother mourning the loss of her son, but he is also recovering from what would undoubtedly be terribly traumatic. Our thoughts are very much with the family and we are absolutely committed to determining exactly what happened last night. A woman, who has friends who live just outside the fence, told MEN : “I just woke up to hear the news. It’s heartbreaking to hear that, it’s so upsetting. “We have never heard of such a thing happening here before.
