It is understood a man was attacked and beaten by two men using hammers or axes in the Upper Dunmurry Lane area shortly before 1 p.m. The incident happened near an elementary school in the area and a children’s park. Danny Baker, Sinn Féin West Belfast MLA, posted on Facebook on Friday afternoon about the incident, writing: “Well, there was a serious incident on Dunmurry Lane, PSNI has an ongoing investigation. “This is close to Our Ladys Queen of Peace Elementary School, I would advise parents to use the Twinbrook Route and avoid the Dunmurry Strip if possible.” In a later statement, he added: “The local community has been shocked by this attack that saw a man being taken to hospital after serious injuries. I urge anyone with any information to contact PSNI. “ A PSNI spokesman said: “Detectives are appealing for information following a report of a serious attack on a man in the Dunmurry area on Friday, June 10. “A report was received around 12.55 that a man in his 30s had been attacked in the Upper Dunmurry Lane area.
