Jorge “Jojo” Morales was first reported missing by his mother, Janet Leal Concepcion, on August 27 after his father violated their custody agreement by failing to return him to her. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said he was found Sunday in Moncton, New Brunswick. “I’m very happy because my son is fine, I was afraid of the worst,” Concepcion told Local10. “Every mother fears the worst and I just… I can’t, my body is like giving up my soul. I’m so happy I can’t stop crying.” The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children later shared that a tipster recognized Jojo and his father, Jorge Gabriel Morales, at a Walmart in Moncton and notified authorities. Jojo Morales was found safe Sunday in Canada.FBI Police suspected Jojo was in Maine or eastern Canada after a 2006 Ford Expedition driven by Jorge Morales was found in Maine in late September. The FBI then released surveillance video from a Walgreens in nearby Houlton, which confirmed that Jojo was in Maine at one point. Jorge Morales, 45, was taken into custody without incident, as was his mother, Lilian Pena Morales, 68. Both remain in police custody. “This is another example of how local, state, federal and international law enforcement, along with the United States and the Attorney General’s Office, are coming together to keep a child safe and will continue to work together to fight a greater evil.” , Miami-Dade Police Director Freddy Ramirez said in a statement. Concepcion told 7News that Jojo doesn’t know what happened to him. “He asked me where I was, because he doesn’t know, he’s very ignorant of what’s going on,” she explained to the report, describing the moment she finally got to talk to her son on the phone. “Thankfully, it’s a blessing that he lives with autism because he thought he was on vacation and I told him the same.” Jojo’s father Jorge Morales (right) and grandmother Lillian Pena Morales were arrested on Sunday. The National Center for Missing Persons and Jojo Morales, 6, was last seen on surveillance footage in Maine with his father, Jorge Morales, in late September. Her own two-month ordeal, however, was a nightmare, with “constant grief … very little sleep, difficulty eating, just constantly praying, constantly thinking that something bad is going to happen to him.” Concepcion told 7News she expected to be reunited with Jojo on Monday night or early Tuesday. He will be driven back to Florida by a Canadian social worker. “We are forever grateful [for the person who called the police],” she said. “It takes courage to speak up, and I know she does, and I hope they know that, thanks to this person, I will see my son again.” Miami-Dade police and the RCMP could not immediately be reached for comment.
