A snowplow got stuck while working on Highway 97C on Friday. After the Thompson-Okanagan saw its first serious blast of the winter Thursday night, more snow is forecast to fall on Sunday. Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for much of southern BC, including the Okanagan, Similkameen and Nicola regions. Even Metro Vancouver is expected to see some accumulation. Up to 15cm of snow is forecast to fall over the Central Okanagan starting around noon and will carry through Monday. The heaviest snow is expected to fall Sunday afternoon. Environment Canada says West Kelowna and Peachland will see the most accumulation, while Kelowna should expect less than 10 cm of accumulation. Local high-elevation highways were hit hard during last week’s storm cycle, causing dozens of accidents and some closures on the Coquihalla and Okanagan links. On Sunday, an additional 25 cm could fall again on the highways. The snow will taper off by Monday, followed by a high pressure system that will bring sunny skies but even colder temperatures next week, with a high of just -4C on Wednesday and an overnight low of -11C.
