“The recent corresponding military operations by the Korean People’s Army are a clear response by (North Korea) that the more persistent the enemies’ provocative military moves continue, the more thoroughly and mercilessly the KPA will deal with them,” the North’s General Staff said. Military officials of the Korean People’s Army (KPA) confirmed that one of the missiles tested had a special-functioning warhead whose mission was to “paralyze the enemy’s operations management system.”

The military announcement reflects Kim Jong Un’s determination not to back down against US and South Korean forces. The two countries issued a joint statement on Thursday, warning that any nuclear attacks would potentially end Kim’s rule.
“Any nuclear attack against the United States or its allies and partners, including the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons, is unacceptable and will lead to the end of the Kim regime,” South Korean Defense Minister Yong-sup Lee said.

North Korea’s military indicated no intention to strike the US mainland on Monday. According to experts, almost all of the North Korean missiles fired last week were likely short-range and nuclear-capable weapons – putting US military bases in South Korea within range.
“The KPA General Staff clarifies once again that it will continue to respond to all war exercises against (North Korea) the enemy with sustained, decisive and overwhelming practical military measures,” it said in a statement.
