David James Leblanc was sentenced in June 2013 to more than 10 years in prison on charges of: sexual assault, child pornography distribution, kidnapping, coercion, sexual assault and death threats. LeBlanc has reached the stage of legal release of his sentence. The only thing the Canadian Parole Board can do is impose conditions, something it did after two hearings last month. In September 2012, Leblanc and another man abducted a teenager and took him to a cabin in Lunenburg County Forest. There, the boy was stripped naked and chained to the floor and ceiling. Over the days, the boy was repeatedly raped. The boy escaped, but Leblanc and his accomplice, Wayne Cunningham, arrested him again.

Leblanc has been released once before

Cunningham even arranged for another man to sexually assault the boy. This man, John Leonard MacKean, was convicted of sexually assaulting the boy and sentenced to two years in prison, where he died of natural causes. When the boy escaped a second time, Cunningham and LeBlanc fled. They ended up in northern Ontario where Cunningham died and LeBlanc was found to be suffering from exposure. Authorities tried to release Leblanc in 2020, but he violated his release from prison conditions and was sent back to prison. Wayne Alan Cunningham and David James LeBlanc have previously been charged with violent restraint and sexual assault. (RCMP) At a hearing last month, the board noted that the Leblanc and Cunningham victim had “suffered nightmares, memory loss, nerve damage in his arm and permanent scarring of his wrists and ankles.” The board also said: “She is afraid to be outside and has recurring traumatic stress. The victim’s mother also provided a statement describing the victim’s loss of innocence and feelings of inability to protect her son from you. . “ While Corrections Canada must release Leblanc, the release board is still concerned about “your history of violence, the high level of violence evident in the index offenses, and the fact that your offense includes Plan 1 contact and non-contact offense children ».

In addition to the teen offenses, Leblanc was convicted of charges involving a five-year-old boy he knew, including creating child pornography. Leblanc is released in half a house and must return to the facility every night. While the release committee never reveals the names of the facilities, Leblanc is being held in jail in British Columbia and is expected to remain on the West Coast. It faces a long list of limitations, such as:

Abstinence from drugs and alcohol. Do not associate with other known criminals. Not for buying or viewing pornography. Stay away from the Internet and do not have a device – such as a computer – that can access the Internet. Stay away from schools, parks, swimming pools and other places frequented by children. Do not have contact with children. List all relationships, including close partners and men.

The board warned Leblanc he could be put back in jail if he violated any of the terms.
