Due to the nature of the victim’s injuries, Surrey RCMP said they called in the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team as a precaution. Few other details have been confirmed, including where the shooting took place. “Initial information to police indicated that the shooting took place in Whalley, although this has not yet been confirmed,” Surrey RCMP said in a news release. Investigators are still working to determine a motive for the shooting and whether the incident is connected to the drug trade or the ongoing gang conflict in the Lower Mainland....

Comment SAN FRANCISCO — The man accused of breaking into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s home and attacking her husband with a hammer reportedly told police he was on a “suicide mission” and had a target list of state and federal politicians as part of of his attempt to combat “lies” coming out of Washington. David Wayne DePape, 42, was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in San Francisco County Superior Court where he faced multiple state charges related to the attack on Paul Pelosi, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, residential burglary, false imprisonment and threatening the life or serious bodily harm of a public official....

He told San Francisco police after his arrest that, “If Nancy [Pelosi] if she told DePape the “truth,” he would let her go, and if she “lied,” he would break her “knees” so they could take her to Congress. Nancy Pelosi said in a statement Monday night that “Paul is making steady progress in a long recovery process.” Paul Pelosi was hospitalized after the attack and underwent what the speaker’s office described as “successful surgery to repair a fractured skull and serious injuries to his right arm and hands....

The accident, in which a Vauxhall Corsa and a Skoda Fabia were involved, happened around 1.40 am, on Scarborough Road near Driffield. Police have closed the road as they investigate the accident. At noon on Saturday, there was no indication of when it would reopen. Humberside police are now calling on anyone who saw the accident or who may have seen the cars a little earlier to come forward. The teenager’s family was informed of his death....

The 17-year-old boy was found injured in the garden of a property in Halifax, West Yorkshire, just after 8pm on Saturday night. He was taken to hospital where he died, police said. Yorkshire Live reported that the teenager jumped a fence and fell into a greenhouse after “scenes of chaos” in Vickerman Street as a large group threw fireworks at police. An eyewitness told the news agency that fireworks were being “hurled” into the street at the time the teenager was found injured and described the scenes as “horrific”....

The turtle, named Fernanda after its home on Fernandina Island, is the first of its kind to be found in more than a century. The existence of the giant tortoise on Fernandina Island – or the “fictional giant tortoise” as it is also known – was discovered in 1906 when a single specimen was collected. Police divers found the baby’s body late Monday morning in Rivière des Mille Îles after the child’s mother’s vehicle plunged into the water last Friday afternoon. The 40-year-old mother and a second child survived the incident, but the woman’s newborn boy had been missing for the past three days. Police have so far been unable to speak to the mother because of her condition, Laval police spokeswoman Geneviève Major said....
