In Wazirabad, a city 119 miles south of Islamabad, some supporters gathered at the site where Mr Khan was injured and urged the former prime minister to continue his march. “Can not stop. People are very angry. It will get more intense,” Ansar Bashir, 40, a supporter who witnessed the shooting while holding a PTI flag, told Reuters. In Lahore, where Mr. Khan was hospitalized, large groups of protesters burned tires and blocked roads. According to witnesses, some threw stones at the gate of the Punjab governor’s office, damaging security cameras and barriers. Mr Khan’s supporters also blocked roads in the northwestern city of Peshawar, while local TV channels showed police using tear gas to disperse protesters in Islamabad and the southern city of Karachi.
