According to a warning from Parliament’s Protection Service (PPS) received by CTV News Ottawa, there is a number of “shelters” because of what PPS called a “potential threat”. Parliament Hill was evacuated. In a statement, PPS confirmed that the shelter in its place remained in place. “Earlier today, a warning was sent through the Emergency Alert System (EMS) to all MPs and MPs from the Parliamentary Protection Service for an operation that is in progress with a possible threat. All Parliament buildings are on the Shelter in Place until further notice and Parliament Hill has been evacuated. As the situation continues, our highest priority remains the security of the parliamentary community and the public. “We continue to work closely with our partners on security issues.” Wellington Street in front of the Houses of Parliament is closed from Elgin Street to Bronson Avenue, as is Metcalfe Street between Albert and Slater Streets, according to police.
