K-9 ballistic missiles from Boston and Quincy police assisted the MPD in a school scan.
SCHOOL FEAR
The latest lockdown comes after a man was shot dead outside an elementary school in Alabama. Police say Robert Tyler White, 32, tried to enter Walnut Park Elementary School in Gadsden on Thursday, leaving parents fearful for their children’s safety. Police said a bypass called police after they allegedly spotted White trying to get into the school, according to ABC 33/40. Officials said they received reports of a suspect at the school “trying to get into vehicles and buildings.” Gadsden City school principal Tony Reddick told Alabama.com that the man tried “aggressively” to open several doors. The school sank into a lockdown amid reports of a possible intruder. A local police officer working as a school resource officer got into a fight with White as the coach tried to take a police officer’s gun before he was killed after an exchange of gunfire. Police have not revealed whether White was armed. The school employee was slightly injured and taken to hospital. At the time of the incident, 34 children were inside the school building.
