Police Scotland said specialist officers were deployed to the Niddrie area of the Scottish capital on Saturday night, with a Molotov cocktail thrown at a police vehicle. Footage shared online shows a motorcycle gang racing through the streets, with fireworks going off all over the ground. There was chaos in the Hyde Park area of Leeds as police threw fireworks and rockets at police. Three people were arrested when police were called to the Alexandra Street area just before 7.30pm on Saturday night following a fire in the street and fireworks going off. Also in West Yorkshire, four youths were arrested in the Bradford Moor area after a police vehicle and fire service were attacked. In Liverpool, police have appealed for witnesses after two men were shot near a bonfire party. Police and paramedics were called to Broad Hey, Litherland, at 11.20pm. Both men suffered serious leg injuries after being targeted outside a house, Merseyside Police said. Detective Inspector Andy Dykes said: “This was a horrific incident which we believe was witnessed by a number of people who attended a fire nearby.” In Greater Manchester, firefighters attended more than 200 incidents. In Eccles, Salford, a firework was thrown at firefighters trying to put out an unattended fire. Fireworks were also aimed at crews responding to an incident at Manchester’s Crumpsall Park. Fire crews also attended an incident where a firework was reported to have gone through the letterbox of a house in Salford. In Halifax, West Yorkshire, a 17-year-old boy died after being found injured near where a group of youths had been seen throwing fireworks. West Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called by the ambulance service just before 8.15pm yesterday evening (Saturday, November 5) to reports of an injured man in the garden of a property on Vickerman Street, Halifax. “The 17-year-old male was taken to hospital where, unfortunately, he died from his injuries. “A scene is currently in the area as officers establish the full facts of what happened. “The matter has been reported to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as police were called to the area following a report of fireworks being set off prior to the incident.”
