The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. Thursday in the Main Street North and Vodden Streat East area.
According to police, a 71-year-old man from Brampton was driving west on Vodden Street East when he was hit by another vehicle traveling north at the intersection.
The man was released from his vehicle and rushed to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
According to police, after the collision, the driver of the other vehicle was removed from the spot before being taken into custody by police.
The suspect, who police identified as 48-year-old Denise Herbert from Vaughan, was charged with dangerous vehicle operation and failure to stop after an accident that resulted in death. He is scheduled to appear in court in August. None of the charges have been proven so far.
In a press release issued Friday, investigators made a public appeal to witnesses who may have seen the collision or may have video from the dashboard camera of what happened. Anyone with information is required to contact the police or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
