It was clear that the preemptive use of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms clause despite derogation is wrong and inappropriate and should only be used in the most exceptional circumstances. The two leaders discussed recent investments in Ontario, including support for the telecommunications sector and the production of electric vehicle battery components that will create good middle-class jobs. They also talked about their continued collaboration on health care and affordable housing, particularly through the Housing Acceleration Fund. The Premier and Premier agreed to continue working together on these and other issues that are important to Ontarians.
