Prince Harry is facing claims he is trying to get Netflix to delay his controversial fly-on-the-wall documentary until after Christmas so it can be released around the same time as his bombshell memoir. The Duke of Sussex was working on the series as part of his rumored £88million deal with the giant, but now wants the series delayed until next year, reports The Sun. Hollywood news website Deadline previously reported that “jerky” Netflix bosses “blinked first” and decided to push back the original December release date after the US company faced heavy criticism for the fifth series of royal drama The Crown. However, it is now claimed that Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Productions are leading efforts to delay the documentaries, following claims that the couple want to make “extensive cuts” to the programme. Prince Harry is facing claims he is trying to get Netflix to delay his controversial fly-on-the-wall documentary until after Christmas so it can be released around the same time as his memoir The Sun claims the publishers of Harry Spare’s memoir, which was due to hit shelves at the same time as the Netflix series, have agreed to delay its release until after January 10. The newspaper reported that the Duke had to make the last – minor changes to the book. However, a source told The Sun last night: “Harry just doesn’t want to go out before Christmas.” There are reports that the couple want to make edits to the series as they want to “play down much of what has been said about King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales”. The insider reportedly told US website Page Six that the couple are “having second thoughts” about the project. The series is a co-production between Netflix and Archewell Productions “Harry and Meghan are panicked trying to tone down even the most basic language. But it’s their story, from their own mouths,” a Netflix source told the site last month. Another said: “They’ve made significant requests to move away from content they’ve provided themselves.” A Hollywood industry source claimed the couple had doubts about the series following the Queen’s death. MailOnline has contacted representatives for the Duke and Duchess.
