The provincial government is setting up a health care recruitment office in southwest India, similar to one set up in Poland to help Ukrainian refugees.
Prime Minister Andrew Furey says a recruitment team, including those who speak the language, will head to India in the coming weeks.
Immigration Minister Gerry Byrne says the new office in India’s Karnataka state is a focused effort to recruit from an area that has similar training practices to NL.

He says the team, including a representative from the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador, will set up an office in Bengaluru (Bangalore). The College representative will help oversee licensing in a “quick and efficient manner.”
The announcement was made this morning at Southcott Hall in St. John’s with the Indian flag flying.
