Tom Dyas’ margin of victory in Saturday’s Kelowna municipal election increased slightly as the official results were declared. In her report declaring the election results official, Chief Elections Officer Laura Bentley says the final totals “confirmed a discrepancy in previously reported results for the Okanagan College preliminary polls and included mail in ballots received at polling places before from 8 p.m. on election day. While the numbers have changed with the addition of 322 previously uncounted votes, the order of finish in the races for mayor, city council and school trustees has not. Dias officially received 21,328 votes, up 218 from election night, while former Mayor Colin Bashran’s total of 10,905 was 84 votes higher. The Council will be officially sworn in during a ceremony on Monday, November 7 at 7 p.m. at the Kelowna Community Theatre. The first regular Monday council meeting will take place next week.
