Walk to conquer cancer

Road closures on Lake Shore Boulevard W. are scheduled for Saturday as thousands of cyclists prepare to take to the streets for the 15th annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer. The fundraising event for the Princess Margaret Cancer Center returns for the first time in two years. Cyclists will travel more than 200 kilometers from Toronto to Niagara Falls in two days. More than 4,600 cyclists are expected to take part. The tour will start at Exhibition Place on Saturday morning. The following closed roads will apply:

Westbound Lake Shore Boulevard W. from Strachan Avenue on British Columbia Drive at 6 p.m. until about 10:30 a.m. Westbound Lake Shore Boulevard W. from British Columbia Drive to Windermere Avenue at 8 p.m. until about 10:30 a.m.

Also Saturday, Lake Shore Boulevard W. will be closed to vehicles from Second Street to Seventh Street from 5 p.m. until 23:59 for The Lakeshore Village Grilled Cheese Challenge.

Run for Women, Word on the Street

Queen’s Park Crescent E. and W. will be closed to vehicles from College Street to Bloor Street W. from 12:01 p.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday for the Run for Women event in support of the Department of Psychiatry at Women’s College Hospital. Queen’s Park Crescent E. and W. will be closed to vehicles from Wellesley Street W. to Bloor Street W. from 10:30 a.m. on Saturday until 6 p.m. on Sunday for the Word on the Street festival.

Daily parade of Portugal

Lansdowne Avenue will be closed to vehicles from Bloor Street W. to College Street from 8 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Saturday for the Day Parade of Portugal. Islington Avenue remains closed to vehicles from Eglinton W. Avenue to The Kingsway until Friday, June 17 for the RBC Canadian Open.

ActiveTO

ActiveTO will take place on Bayview Avenue from Rosedale Valley Road to Lawren Harris Square. River Street between Bayview Avenue and Spruce Street. and The Meadoway from Brimley Road to Scarborough Golf Club Road, from 7 a.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Sunday. Roads inside High Park will be closed to vehicles throughout the weekend.

TTC Tips

If you are hoping to avoid the dead end on the streets and take the subway, here are some service tips in place:

There will be no subway service all weekend on line 1 TTC between Lawrence and St. Louis stations. Clair due to the construction of Metrolinx by Eglinton Crosstown LRT. The service on line 2 between the stations of St. George and Broadview will begin by noon Sunday to replace the beam on the Prince Edward (Bloor) viaduct. Bay and Sherbourne Stations will be closed on Sunday.

Some bus and tram routes will also be affected by the weekend events:

Bus 29 Dufferin and tram 501 Queen will divert on Saturday from 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 a.m. Tram 501 Queen will also divert on Saturday to host the Lakeshore Village Grilled Cheese Challenge. 19 Bay, 72 Pape, 97 Yonge, 320 Yonge and 172 Cherry Beach buses will be diverted due to shooting at Queens Quay and Yonge Street on Saturday The 19 Bay bus will divert from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Bus 47 Lansdowne, Bus 63 Ossington and Tram 505 Dundas will divert from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Delays on the 29 Dufferin bus are expected during this period. 13 Avenue Road and 94 Wellesley will be diverting throughout the weekend
