Detectives began an investigation into the murder after a mother and son were stabbed to death in a Miles Platting home around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Rescuers had treated the boy at the scene, but he was taken to hospital, where he died about an hour later. His mother – a woman in her 40s – was also treated at home for serious knife wounds and was taken to hospital where he remains in stable condition. Specially trained officers support the mother and her family. A 44-year-old man from Manchester was arrested on Friday in Kent on suspicion of murder. It is believed that he was known to the victims.
