A man sits in what is believed to be a 1930 Chevrolet Sedan in Bathfield, just west of Summerland A turn in the chilly weather Thursday morning prompted the Summerland Museum & Archives to share a look back at a winter storm more than 90 years ago. The photo from December 1930 was shared as a reminder of the harsh winters of days gone by. Pictured, a 1930 Chevrolet sedan sits in a pile of heavy snow in Bathfield, just west of Summerland. “The Chevy sedan came with standard equipment such as bumpers, a robe rail, a dome light, silk assist cords, and six wire wheels with fender wells. The 1930 model also increased horsepower from 46 to 50, while smaller wheels with larger tires had as resulting in a smoother ride. Not sure how well the tires would do in the snow! And we’d definitely miss the heated seats,” the museum wrote. “If the snow arrives in the next few days as predicted, think about this photo and how far technology has come in less than 100 years.” Some snowfall may come to the region as Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for interior mountain roads, with significant snow expected on Thursday. As of Thursday afternoon, 15 to 20 centimeters of snow is forecast to fall on the Coquihalla Highway, Okanagan Connector and Allison Pass.
