“They took up arms and are protecting our homeland,” Chief Justice Vsevolod Kniaziev said on CTV News Channel’s Power Play. He told Power Play host Mike LeCouteur that judges from across the country’s judiciary, including four from the supreme court, have joined the Ukrainian military. “Additionally, we have 300 judicial officers who are now inside [the] army,” said Chief Justice Kniaziev. Chief Justice Knyaziev was in Ottawa for a world meeting of supreme judges. Appeared on Power Play with Chief Justice of Canada Richard Wagner. Those not on the front lines are trying to keep the justice system running. He said air raid warnings on the Power Play, missile strikes and running to shelters hindered their work. “It’s a really, really difficult and insecure job for judges now,” Kniaziev said.
