Misrach Ewunetie’s family, speaking to several media outlets last week, expressed their frustration at being “kept in the dark” by the authorities about her case. “There is no constant update or interaction with us,” Universe Ewunetie’s brother told CNN last week, shortly before her body was found. “We’re really being kept in the dark.” Her brother said authorities have anticipated that the investigation into the case will take considerable time. “That’s one thing we don’t have, we don’t have time,” he said. The high-achieving student was missing for six days before her body was found near Princeton’s campus. Brian McCarthy/On Scene News Ewunetie’s body was found behind the tennis courts near the edge of the Ivy League campus by a facilities employee around 1 p.m. Thursday, the Mercer County District Attorney’s Office said. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of her death, but said there were “no obvious signs of injury and her death does not appear to be suspicious or criminal in nature.” An autopsy was performed Friday, but the medical examiner’s office is still awaiting the toxicology report as well as other test results, according to Casey DeBlasio, a spokesman for the Mercer County District Attorney’s Office. The high-achieving student’s disappearance on Oct. 14 sparked a statewide manhunt. Her family, who is originally from Ethiopia but lives in Ohio, was especially worried when she missed a meeting about her US citizenship on Saturday. The 20-year-old was last seen brushing her teeth in her dormitory around 3am. One of her suitemates reported seeing Ewuenetie brush her teeth and go to her room — but when the roommate returned around 4:30 a.m., she was nowhere to be seen. Ewunetie’s phone was last heard from after 3 a.m. at an apartment complex about a 30-minute walk from her dorm, her brother told ABC’s “Good Morning America,” noting that his sister so far from campus she was unusual. “It’s pretty far,” he said. “And Princeton is a big campus, and it’s very insular, right, so it’s very strange that her phone is off campus. Like, it’s all on campus.” Ewunetie was expected to graduate from Princeton in 2024. Princeton University Ewunetie’s LinkedIn profile said she was studying sociology with a certificate in ‘Computer Applications’. “My goal is to bring value to the business world through innovative problem-solving and data analysis skills that will continue to develop as I continue my education at Princeton,” she wrote on her resume. He was expected to graduate from Princeton in 2024. Princeton Vice President W. Rochelle Calhoun said in a statement: “Misrach’s death is an unimaginable tragedy. Our hearts go out to her family, friends and many others who knew and loved her. “Princeton is a tight-knit community, and we mourn Mishrah together.”
